Practice is the surest key to success, and visiting local parks, zoos, botanical gardens and nature reserves to photographs birds, mammals and other subjects will give you an opportunity to get to know your equipment and feel confident before venturing further afield. In future articles we will try to guide you on your photographic journey to the best places to see and have opportunities to capture the stunning landscapes and wildlife we have in South Africa and other spots in Africa and the world. Finally - always remember to respect the birds and the wildlife, as well as property rights. The key to success, especially with birds, is knowing your subject and a great deal of patience!
