ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION

With our core business being environmental education, we conduct various ecosystem studies where we take you on a guided walk as we explore the ecosystems and sightings that nature has to offer. From a visit to the Rocky Shores, to the Forest and Wetlands as well as the Mangroves, there is an abundance of knowledge to gain and share. All our courses adopt a hands-on approach, enabling participants to become one with nature, and in turn gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for the environment. Catering for groups of all ages, we are able to conduct our courses from grade R to Grade 12. We also do specialised adult education courses aimed at developing expertise, skill and knowledge, particularly in the environmental field. Have you

heard the saying ‘home away from home’? Not only will you feel at home, but you will leave here feeling invigorated, refreshed and inspired after being at our Centre. Our accommodation is comfortable and welcoming. Added to this comfortable accommodation, scrumptious and hearty freshly prepared meals, just for you, will definitely make you feel at home. We can accommodate up to 91 people in our clean, well-maintained, and neatly laid out dormitories, catering for all your specific needs and requirements. Fancy an outdoor experience in nature? Join us for various Ecosystem studies where we take you through on our guided walks as we explore the beautiful wonders that nature has to offer. Get your feet wet or dirty, hug a tree, and let a hermit crab crawl on your hand. Learn about many animals that you may not know even existed. Choose from the Rocky Shores, Forest and Wetlands, Mangroves and much more to start your learning experience. Our courses are targeted at school groups, and aligned with the South African CAPS as well as the IRP programmes. Our on-site, professional staff members facilitate outdoor adventure activities and programmes on environmental awareness, leadership and human capacity development. The Centre is rich in history and ecological importance. It is also the site of the original radar tracking station for coastal defence during the World War II. The Treasure Beach Environmental Education Centre plays a special role in growing young leadership to add value to our environmental heritage and ensure sustainability.
