Waking up to the sound of a Fiery-necked Nightjar calling its urgent “Good Lord deliver us” rendition, I rolled out of bed and pulled on my khakis, and slipped on my boots making sure the laces were done up tight. I pulled the canvas gators over my socks, so that the Aristida and Tragus grass seeds would not build up like a frenzied Velcro factory during the morning walk.
