WESSA Schools Programme Annual Report 2019/2020

It has been a journey of reflection, reimagining and transformation for WESSA Schools across the country over the last 17 years.

Each school’s individual effort and tenacity to change their circumstances and futures are what inspires the WESSA Schools Programme team to keep improving our programmes . The schools have guided us to think differently about how we implement environmental programmes to ensure holistic development of people and the environment . The stories of change in this report is a snippet of what school across South Africa are doing and achieved to contribute to a more sustainable life for themselves. One of the greatest impacts has been a clear improvement in quality of life at schools where environmental education is entrenched in the teaching and learning. 2020 has been a difficult year for all the schools and we’ve again realized the importance of developing resilient and sustainable schools and communities to prepare for an uncertain future.
